Before you start using this medicine, read this INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE carefully, because it contains important information for you.

ASIVIRAL® is an antiviral drug effective against Herpes simplex virus (HSV) type 1 and 2 viruses.

ASIVIRAL contains acyclovir as the active ingredient. It is offered in blisters of 25 and 70 tablets.

ASIVIRAL® is used in the treatment of skin infections (herpes), chickenpox, shingles (a painful skin disease caused by nerve inflammation), AIDS and patients with severe immune system deficiency following bone marrow transplantation.

Instructions for proper use and dosage/frequency of administration

Follow your doctor’s recommendations on how to use ASIVIRAL®.

Herpes treatment; It should be taken 200 mg 5 times a day, at approximately 4-hour intervals, skipping the night dose. Treatment should be continued for 5 days, but in cases of severe infections, the period may need to be extended. In cases of severe immunodeficiency (e.g. after bone marrow transplantation) or patients with intestinal malabsorption, the dose may be doubled to 400 mg.

Suppression of herpes; To suppress herpes infection in patients with normal immune systems, 200 mg ASIVIRAL® should be taken 4 times a day with approximately 6-hour intervals. Doses of 400 mg taken twice daily, approximately every 12 hours, have been sufficient for most patients. By reducing the dose, taking 200 mg ASIVIRAL® 3 times a day with 8-hour intervals or even twice a day with 12-hour intervals may be sufficient.

Protection from herpes; 200 mg ASIVIRAL® should be administered 4 times a day approximately every 6 hours. In cases with severe immune deficiency (e.g. after bone marrow transplantation) or patients with intestinal malabsorption, the dose can be doubled to 400 mg (one scoop).

Like all medicines, side effects may occur in people who are sensitive to the ingredients contained in ASIVIRAL®.

If one of the following occurs, stop using ASIVIRAL® and IMMEDIATELY inform your doctor or go to the emergency department of the nearest hospital.

Hypersensitivity reactions are very rare.
