Active ingredient: Each film-coated tablet contains 1 mg finasteride.

Excipients: Lactose monohydrate (obtained from ruminants), microcrystalline cellulose, pregelatinized starch, sodium starch glycolate, docusate sodium, magnesium stearate, hydroxypropylmethyl cellulose, hydroxypropyl cellulose, talc, titanium dioxide (color substance E171), yellow iron oxide (E172) and red iron oxide (E172).

PROPECIA is presented in blister packs containing 28 film-coated tablets.

PROPECIA is a skin-coloured, 8-sided film-coated tablet with the “P” logo on one side and “PROPECIA” written on the other side. Each film-coated tablet contains 1 mg finasteride.

PROPECIA belongs to a group of medicines known as testosterone 5-alpha-reductase inhibitors.

PROPECIA is used only in men to treat moderate or mild male pattern hair loss (also known as androgenic alopecia). PROPECIA increases scalp hair growth in men and prevents further hair loss.

It is not effective in women or men with complete hair loss.

Always take PROPECIA exactly as your doctor tells you. If you are not sure, ask your doctor or pharmacist.

Instructions for proper use and dosage/frequency of administration

PROPECIA should not be used in children. There are no data demonstrating effectiveness or safety in children under 18 years of age.

No dose adjustment is required in the elderly.

No special dose adjustment is required in patients with renal impairment. Caution should be exercised when PROPECIA is administered to patients with hepatic impairment.

Like all medicines, PROPECIA can cause side effects, but not everyone gets them. Some of these side effects are temporary during treatment or disappear when treatment is stopped.

If any of the following occur, stop using PROPECIA and IMMEDIATELY inform your doctor or go to the emergency department of your nearest hospital.

These are all very serious side effects. If you have one of these, it means you have a serious allergy to PROPECIA. You may need emergency medical attention or hospitalization.

The frequency of side effects reported during post-marketing use cannot be determined because they are derived from spontaneous reporting.
